The chains are always looser than they look. This candle is for the moment you recognize what is holding you back — and choose differently. It burns with orange blossom, jasmine, orange, cinnamon, eucalyptus, liquorice, and white musk — a seductive, warm, and clarifying fragrance that names the temptation and gives you the power to face it. In the Tarot, The Devil is card XV of the Major Arcana — the archetype of earthly desire, comfortable stagnation, and the ever-present choice between bondage and freedom. Included in the box: one soy wax candle in a hand-made porcelain container, one Tarot card from the Major Arcana deck, and a ritual affirmation card.

The Devil — Arcana XV

The Devil does not force you. He only offers the game — and waits to see if you accept. Card XV of the Major Arcana is the archetype of chains made from earthly desires, comfortable stagnation, and the slow erosion of spiritual ambition. The figures in the card are chained, but the chains are loose. They could leave at any moment. The Devil is a mirror: he shows you where you have surrendered your freedom, and reminds you that you can always take it back.

Orange Blossom (Neroli)

In Italy, orange blossoms were woven into bridal crowns — a symbol of new beginnings and purity. Neroli possesses soothing and antiseptic qualities and acts as a natural aphrodisiac. It fights depression and anxiety, boosts mood, and is particularly effective before stressful occasions. In the context of The Devil, neroli is the scent of liberation — the breath of fresh air after the chains fall.

Jasmine

In India, jasmine was called "Moonshine in the garden." Young women adorned their hair with its blossoms; Cleopatra is said to have used jasmine oil to captivate Marc Antony. Its aroma is deeply sensual and magnetic — it does not deny desire, it transforms it. Jasmine acknowledges the pull of The Devil's world while pointing toward something more luminous.

Orange

Orange essential oil opens the heart and frees from sadness, nervousness, and anxiety. It has a relaxing effect on some and an energizing effect on others — always moving energy that has become stuck. It boosts optimism, natural charm, and self-confidence, and restores the aura after illness or emotional stress. In magic, orange is linked to the ability to attract love.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon composes a cozy atmosphere of self-confidence. Its warm, spiced aroma is inspiring and expansive — it boosts optimism, strengthens integrity of personality, and raises self-esteem. A proven remedy against self-pity and clinging to the past. In magical rituals, cinnamon is used to attract love, desire, and abundance — the healthy expression of what The Devil distorts.

Eucalyptus

The cornerstone of respiratory aromatherapy. Eucalyptus purifies the air, supports the immune system, and has powerful anti-inflammatory properties. It is the scent of cleansing — of clearing what has accumulated and making space for what is healthy. When The Devil's atmosphere grows heavy, eucalyptus cuts through it.

Liquorice

Found among the treasures in pharaoh tombs, liquorice has been prized since antiquity. It has long been included in sacred incense for its aroma that positively affects youth, sexuality, charm, and physical vitality. Liquorice does not suppress desire — it honors it, channeling it toward life-giving rather than life-draining ends.

White Musk

A classical aromatic substance used in perfumery since antiquity. In nature, musk functions as a pheromone — drawing attention, awakening desire. White musk is the ethical, synthetic alternative. Its scent brings vitality, opens the senses, and stirs the deepest layers of the soul. For The Devil, white musk is the raw energy of desire itself — neither good nor bad, only powerful.

How and When to Use

Light this candle when you want to examine a pattern, habit, or attachment honestly. Use it during journaling, shadow work, or any ritual of release and transformation. Read the included affirmation card aloud. Let the fragrance name what needs to be named. Burn for up to 4 hours at a time for best results.
