The Myth of the NORNS

The NORNS were female beings in Norse mythology who ruled the destiny of every creature — gods and humans alike. They lived beneath the roots of Yggdrasil, the world tree, where they drew water from the Well of Urðr each day and carved the fate of each soul into the roots. Even the gods could not influence their decisions. Urðr governed what has been, Verðandi what is becoming, and Skuld what shall be. To ask for a change in fortune, you had to address the NORNS directly.

Sweet Orange
